Symrise

Symrise is one of leading worldwide producers of aromatic and gustatory flavours. Since it was founded, within few years of existence, it has developed a strong position on international market of food additives.

The company was set up in 2003 after fusion of companies H&R (Haarmann & Reimer) and Dragoco, both from Holzminden in Germany.

Haarman & Reimer was founded by chemists from Holzminden - Ferdinand Tiemann and Wilhelm Haarmann after successful synthesizing vanillin from coniferin. Holzminden was the first place of vanillin production on an industry scale. In 1953 H&R was taken over by Bayer.

Symrise company employs 4900 employees. In 2006 it reached income of € 1,23 mln, and since March 2007 it has been a quoted company on German MDAX index.
